There are times in your life when you need pitch your idea to someone. It might be your new business plan to possible investors, an improvement plan to your boss or just a simple school assignment, but the purpose of a pitch is always to impress someone. So going with ugly slides and bullet points may not always be the best idea.

Prezi vs Powerpoint

Now I`m not saying that Powerpoint and slides are evil, but when your goal is to knock the socks off someone`s feet then Prezi can a better tool for you. Of course if you are inexperienced with Prezi then your presentation can even be 100 times worse and the only socks you`ll be seeing are your owns after you cry in the toilet 😀 OK maybe not that bad but almost.

A pitch using Prezi can be a totally different experience for the audience, especially for the people who haven`t seen Prezi yet. You can make very dynamic Presentations and among all the other presenters, you will surely be the one who is remembered. You don`t have to be great designer to make a good Prezi, there many also many templates available  that can really help you tell your story way better than blank slides. Here is an example of a really minimalist and simple Prezi for pitching your business plan:

Downsides of Prezi

A small downside to Prezi is that you REALLY have to be prepared. What if the internet connection decides to fail 2 minutes before you presentation and you didn`t bring the portable Prezi? In that case you just have to present without visuals. Of course you always have to be prepared for that, nobody should come to a pitch without being prepared and only depending on the slides or visuals. However the Prezi internet fail can also be avoided. As mentioned one way is to make a portable Prezi that can be taken anywhere on a USB stick without the need of an internet connection. The other way is simply to load your Prezi before all the presentations start. So even if the connection is lost, your Prezi is already loaded in the browser and will work without a connection.
